Francisco Hernandez
I'm Francisco and I'm running for OUSA Welfare. You've read my blurb - so here are my plans and ideas explained:
1. Fixing the Uni Internet - I'll keep OUSA's lobbying to sort the internet out. As an exec member, I know who to talk to and how to talk to the University so I'll be able to keep at it better.
2. Keeping and Improving Free Box - I'll talk to property services to include furniture and other cool stuff so that students can get furninture for free.
3. Flatbook - A 'Facebook for flats' to help you decide which flats are good and which ones are shit.
4. Free Soup for Students - I'll implement a programe which gives away warm and free soup to students at nights. I've got people who are keen to donate veges for free so the cost will be zero to OUSA and students.
5. Student Bill of Rights - I'll work with the Uni and the City Council to guarantee basic rights for students, for example: the right to free speech, the right to representation, the right warm flats, the right to affordable food, the right to working internet and much more!
6. Free Busses - I'll lobby the Dunedin City Council hard to finally get free busses for students. This will help everyone: students, by lowering the price of rent by giving students a choice of where to flat and the community by allowing the vibrancy and energy of students to spread to the rest of Dunedin.
7. Effective Student Representation - I'll lobby hard to bring back the old exec positions to bring back engagement and representation with students. I'll lobby for some new ones that strenghten OUSA too. I want this all done by the first semester to up OUSA's engagement. (Humanities, Health Sci, Science, Commerce, Law, Dentistry, Womens, Mens, Queer, etc.)
8. Student Time Bank - Students can swap time to help each other do stuff
9. Right to party - Work with the DCC to bring back Toga parades and other cool stuff in a safe and inclusive way.
