I started this blog as a way to discuss why people do things. But not just any people, I'm focusing on artists. But not just any artists, I'm focusing on adult artists.
This is not an art history blog or an art therapy blog or an art theory blog or even an art blog, not really. It's about people and what you think about the things that motivate them. I chose art as a theme because we are all fascinated with art and artists of all kinds. Even if people say they "don't like art" they probably have a favorite tv show or movie or actor or actress or like to dance or something. Artists often display their values, their beliefs and their souls when they create, so they are often transparent in their intentions. Also, a blog with pictures of cool art is a lot nicer to look at than a blog without pictures of cool art.
I didn't choose adult artists because I am some sort of hater of child artists. Quite the opposite. I believe kids could corner the art world if they wanted to, only they don't care about things like "cornering the market." That's exactly why I think they make great artists.
I did choose to focus on adult art because I am an educator and I do most of my work with adults. I am fascinated by how people learn and the challenges that learners and teachers face. I believe artists are teachers and sometimes the lesson they are teaching is quite in your face, and sometimes it's very subtle. And then there are the lessons that you just. don't. get. I would like to explore the lessons the artists are trying to get across, and why they chose to do it the way they did.
I would love to hear your answers to the questions that I ask. It's kind of lonely writing a blog and asking a lot of questions and not getting any answers. And this is not a test: there is no right or wrong. If you choose to comment, just say what you think.
Thanks!
