Francesco Dimundo
Venice, Italy
Created by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1809, the title was given to Marshal Louis Alexandre Berthier as a reward for the victory of the homonymous battle he led with the French army. The title of Prince of Wagram is within the so-called "Titles of Victory" created by Napoleon himself to reward his top Commanders. On the death of His Royal Highness the Prince Louis Alexandre Berthier, the title was handed to his son and the offspring was not broken until 1918 when the last and only heir was killed in action during the First World War. The title is to be delivered today to the rightful successor to the Principality, His Royal Highness Francesco Dimundo ( me ), who becomes in effect 5th Prince of Wagram.
