Frances Soto

Greetings, I’m Frances. I’m an Academic Advisor with the Undergraduate Advising Center at KU. Having received both my Undergraduate and Graduate degrees at KU, I'm passionate about the University setting and understand the specific challenges students may experience at this institution. My ultimate goal as an Advisor is to assist students by removing roadblocks they may encounter in their academic tracks. Sometimes we may even find ourselves with personal blocks that keep us from achieving our goals. I'm here to say that everything has a solution through honest communication, cooperative teamwork and a belief in the self.

Coming from varied life experiences, I've personally seen the extreme lows life can throw in your way, but I've also seen the wonderful highs life has to offer as well. From a military family background to my Puerto Rican heritage and many life experiences in between, these components make up my identity and inform the problem solving needed for my position.

In my free time, I indulge in all kinds of nerdy hobbies. I'm an avid reader, a hardcore gamer, and I have a deep love for all things strategy. I greatly value nature and take pride in cultivating all my plant babies. You'll often find me taking my ritual morning coffee surrounded by my leafy companions.
