Francine Chin

  • Francine Chin has graced the New York and International airwaves for more than twenty years. Beginning her radio career with mentor, Ken Williams, Fran moved on to pilot “Caribbean Blend” into the number one weekday Reggae Show in New York City on 105.9 FM. Her next stop was at Innercity Broadcasting’s W.L.I.B. in 1996, where she did two separate stints and remained until the station ceased its Caribbean formatting in 2004. She had also teamed with another of her mentors, the late Philip Smart, at W.W.R.L., and where she also worked under Program Director, Bob Law. Francine has further served as Programming Consultant to Independent Radio Producers and as a Voice-Over Talent for Public Relations agencies in New York City and Fox F.M. in Melbourne Australia. In 1999, she and Australian D.J. “Stick Mareebo” were joint presenters of British Airways’ Caribbean bound, inflight program, then produced by Omni Media. In 1999, Fran formed KuttingEdge Communications andwas responsible for a number of artists’ publicity including that of Half Pintwho resurged internationally because of her strategies. Since then she has handledseveral local and international projects for small businesses, governmentdepartments, and independent artistes and labels. In 2001, MIDEM,France, appointed her head of their Caribbean and USA Black Music Markets. Inaddition to being the “point person” for agencies such as JAMPRO (Jamaica), TheNational Cultural Foundation of Barbados and The Cayman Music Organization,Chin conceptualized and created MIDEM’s first, Hip Hop Market in Cannes.

    Francine Chin is a trained Broadcaster and holds degrees in English and Spanish from Stonybrook University, New York. She is the recipient of several media awards, including that of Radio Personality of the year (two successive occasions) and citations from The New York State Senate and The City Council of New York. Chin also currently heads 1095JAMZ.com/WFCS.FM- a fully staffed online radio station where her On-Air guests are drawn from all facets of society with an emphasis on the Music Industry. She also teaches English as a Second Language to business executives from Europe, Asia and South America.
