Designer in Hong Kong
I am a designer from France based in Hong Kong. I have begun my designing career in 2010 as a freelance and studio designer after graduating from my Masters Degree in Advanced Studies in Cross-cultural Design at Shanghai University and a Bachelor in Industrial Design at L’Ecole de Design de Nantes in France. Prior to joining Tektos, a Hong-Kong based lifestyle and technology accessories company, I have worked with Michael Young (Hong Kong), Alan Chan (Hong Kong) and Perennia (Montreal).
Since my childhood, I have always had the passion for art, science and technology; passions that I have cultivated and improved through formal educations and apprenticeship. I have had the chance to work in different countries, agencies and companies, exploring multitude aspects of designs.
Through my experiences, I have learned about design thinking, how a solid methodology can lead to tangible concepts, and focusing on solving user needs. In Montreal, I discovered that the power of social and sustainable design, an approach that since then remains constantly at the back of my mind when creating. In Shanghai, I became aware that design is tied up with one’s cultural aspiration and education. In Hong Kong, I was exposed to luxury design as a domain where the boundaries between form versus function and necessity versus desirability get blur. I learned in Shenzhen about the reality of the product making industry and the difficulties of manufacturing. I now think of design as an equation, trying to find creative solutions to balance between functionality & aesthetics, sustainability & profitability, viability & legitimacy.
