Frank Capano

A professional who is energetic about many interests, Frank Capano holds membership in a number of organizations, among them the National Society of Professional Engineers, the National Cooperative Business Association, the Hotel Sales & Marketing Association, and the American Resort Development Association.

An enterprise with a number of functions, the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) acts as an ambassador for resort development industries and vacation ownership properties including timeshares. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., The ARDA supports almost 1,000 corporate members and acts as an umbrella for a number of resort management companies, timeshare owner associations, suppliers, and consultants. A wide-ranging organization, the ARDA also sponsors owners through the subsidiary, ARDA Resort Owners Coalition (ARDA-ROC). The ARDA is built on six precepts: Advocacy, Networking, Bridge Building, Outreach, Knowledge, and Professional Development.

Within ARDA’s labors in advocacy, the organization lobbies and monitors regulatory concerns surrounding leisure property ownership. ARDA provides other forms of support through networking opportunities including several events, among them the ARDA Annual Convention and Exposition. The third mission of the ARDA is bridge-building, which deals with partnership endeavors and collaborations with relevant industries both domestically and internationally.

Fourthly and fifthly, the ARDA is committed to outreach and knowledge, always keeping members abreast of developments, industry news, research, and learning opportunities. Lastly, the ARDA fosters professional development by regularly presenting educational avenues including publications, seminars, and study courses that detail regulatory, legal, and operational issues.

Dedicated to strengthening the timeshare community, the ARDA began publishing Developments magazine in 1978, and the periodical appears ten times per year. The ARDA also publishes valuable texts, with past volumes including Static Pool Analysis Guide and Timeshare Entities Uniform System of Accounts.
