Hello, I’m Franklin and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. Most bios will focus on the facts – age, location, occupation, etc. Instead of that version of a bio, I would just simply like to describe to you my passion for sports, as I believe that encapsulates me as a person better than any facts could. My love for sports, and I mean ALL sports, goes beyond just the competitions, themselves. Don’t get me wrong, that is essentially the fundamental basis for sports, but they go far deeper. The way that sports bring people together and even provide some with their identities are one of the things that set apart sports from the rest of the world. Have you ever heard of a group of fans supporting a law firm? No, I didn’t think so. That’s because sports can evoke an emotional response that most avid fans will even admit baffles them. My dad grew up in Boston and raised me as a Patriots fan, and I am not stretching the truth telling you I cried tears of joy after the Pats 28-3 at half comeback Super Bowl win over Atlanta. Moments like those, shared with the people you love, cannot be replicated in any other way. These experiences can cost fans thousands of dollars, yet some will spend the last dime of their paycheck to go see their team play. The cultural aspects of sport bring diverse groups of people together for a common cause. They allow people to escape the dull, repetitive routines of their daily lives to feel like a part of something bigger than themselves. This, among other reasons, makes me appreciate sports for more than just a game. I cannot wait to turn this passion into my career.
