Frank Townend has over twenty-five years of progressively escalating responsibility in Information Technology related disciplines. Often the lead or sole technical expert in systems design, security, and application support on architectures ranging from Micros to Networks, his responsibilities have been broad in scope but have centered on leveraging the customer's information technology investment to make most efficient use of current and proposed technology. He has a diverse background, with positions in information technology security, military weapon assessment, information technology based management initiatives, support, and management of managed services. Primary to his efforts have been methodologies that ensured information processed and at rest was protected within the arena of availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability. These efforts have always encompassed the balance of risk vs. operational requirements.
Frank Townend was employed by the Missile Defense Agency where he served as the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Project Manager and Certification and Accreditation (C&A;) Subject Matter Expert. His efforts with PKI lead to the establishment of one of the first DoD implementations of public key network authentication, digital signature, and PKI-enabled application infrastructures.
During his free time, Frank enjoys Woodturning bowls on his lathe.
