Franziska Thiemann

Leipzig, Germany

At the age of 13 I realized that I wanted exactly two things from life: engage with people and speak English while doing so. This vision only intensified, upon my return from a very successful year as an exchange student in the beautiful state of Michigan.

After graduating High School, I started my studies of American Studies at the University of Leipzig. Recently graduated, I focused on sustainability in urbanized America as well as on the literature of Emerson, Thoreau, and Hemingway.

With a growing interest in the business world, I participated in further training as an Exportmanager. This course, made me aware of three things: Working with people across different time zones is amazing, I enjoy planning and organizing anything with an increasing passion, and I love communication (especially in business situations).

Following the training, I received the chance to intern in a fascinating company where, in a strong team of four, we compiled an exportplan for a medium-sized enterprize. Currently I am working at the German American Chamber of Commerce California's Leipzig office as an International Placement Advisor.

Furthermore, I run my own business, offering many different services from personal assistancy to general business administration. I am also working on the business development and expansion of an aspiring artist agency which arranges performances for stage artists and handles event management.

Over the course of the last few years, I have become an engaged member of Leipzig Toastmasters. Toastmasters is a non-profit organization designed to assist its members in excelling not only in their communication but also their leadership skills.
