15 years ago, as a high school principal getting my doctorate, I discovered that, at over 60 million, teachers are the largest professionally-trained community in the world. I decided right then and there to found Teachers Without Borders in order to build a global network of teachers as local change agents.
Teachers Without Borders now has members in 184 countries. Brains are evenly distributed, indeed. We help each other remove barriers to education so we finally connect teacher development to global development.
I have just been appointed to Johns Hopkins University’s School of Education, where I've launched four public online courses in global education, girls’ education, education in emergencies, and peace education. I'm also working on environmental education and a course on safe schools.
