Fredy Massad (architect) founded ¿btbW/Architecture in 1996 together with Alicia Guerrero Yeste ( Art History graduate).

He has been the architecture critic for Spanish newspaper ABC since 2005. He regularly writes for several international media. Since March 2013, he runs for the on-line edition of ABC the architecture blog «La viga en el ojo», which has since become a key reference among the Spanish-speaking architectural community.

Since 2013, Professor at the School of Architecture in the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (Barcelona) in charge of the course «Theory and Architecture Criticism».

Professor at Chair Bonifacio in the University of Buenos Aires between 1992 and 1995. Adjunct Professor in the BIARCH (Barcelona Institute of Architecture) during the 2011/2012 course. Visiting Professor ad honorem at Chair Solsona-Ledesma-Salama in the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Buenos Aires. Visiting Professor at the Vilniaus Dailès Akademija (Lithuania).

In April 2015, he released the book "La viga en el ojo. Escritos a tiempo" through Ediciones Asimétricas. The volume compiles a selection of forty articles written between 2008 and 2015.

He is currently preparing a book due to be released in late 2016 through Bisman Ediciones (Argentina).

In partnership with Guerrero Yeste, he has written the essay Enric Miralles: Metamorfosi del paesaggio (2004) and has edited different books, most remarkably a+a architecturanimation ( 2002) and the monographic issue «Arquitectura en la era de la revolución digital» for magazine Experimenta (2003).

Among his most recent contributions in collective authorship publications should be noted his essays for the book Iconoclastia ( ETH Zurich) and architects’ monographs such as Josep Lluís Mateo and Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra, along with essays included in volumes devoted to the critical analysis of topics related to contemporary architecture.

His professional activities have also included curatorial work.

He has been summoned as jury member for several international competitions.

He actively lectures internationally at architecture schools and events focused on the debate and opinion about current architectural issues, developing an approach that aims at emphasizing the political and ideological dimension of architecture to actively intervene in the revision and transformation of the paradigms of present society.
