French Cookin' Blues Band

French Cookin’- A New York Blues band playing a wide variety of styles, all firmly rooted in the Blues. Ranging from the dusty Delta to Chicago Blues, back down to hot Texas and Louisiana "second line", even some of that west coast jump style blues. Music you can groove to, feel in your heart and get you moving your feet. They add their own unique touch to present a new look at a vital American art form.

Going back to the late 70’s, the band has played many of the city’s iconic venues including the legendary Dan Lynch Blues Bar, The Bottom Line, The Lone Star Café and The Bitter End. For many years we were regulars at B.B. King’s Blues Club and Lucille’s Grill. We also play for many city organizations including the 19 Precinct Community Council, East River Esplanade and Riverside Park Conservancy. The band was inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame in 2015.

Led by ‘Doc' David French, the band is committed to preserving the history and heritage of the blues, playing classic songs from the great artists as well as an extensive selection of original titles. French Cookin’ has recorded three CDs, the self-titled “French Cookin’,” “Good Gravy” and our most recent, “If You Wanna,” which can be heard on YouTube and various other music sites.

French Cookin’ is committed to presenting the Blues in a more contemporary vein, but still preserving the basic essence that is the core of this vital, original American music.

It is, as we say, “City Blues, New York Style.”
