Tom Robinson

Tom Robinson (b. 1950) is a London-based songwriter and broadcaster who presents the award-winning interactive programme NowPlaying@6Music alongside his own Saturday Night show and the BBC Introducing Mixtape for the UK radio station BBC 6 Music. He also hosts the music blog Fresh On The Net providing free insider advice for independent artists.

He first became known in the 1970s as a musician and LGBT activist with the Top 20 hits 2-4-6-8 Motorway and Glad To Be Gay. With the Tom Robinson Band he was also a prominent supporter of Rock Against Racism and Amnesty International.

Between 1975 and 2001 he wrote and recorded 19 albums with various bands and collaborated as a songwriter with Elton John, Peter Gabriel and Dan Hartman among others. As a solo artist he had a Top 10 hit of his own in 1983 with War Baby.
