Matthew Ftacnik

Matej Ftacnik is the founder of The Spot - Booster, the first Slovak startup creative space & accelerator, that has been shaping the local startup ecosystem with a wide range of community-oriented activities (education, networking, mentoring) and business activities (acceleration, corporate consulting, fundraising support) since 2012. The Spot - Booster attracted more than 6500 enthusiasts to it’s 450 events, has 120 mentors that worked with 150 startups and is currently accelerating a handful of the most promising new Slovak startups (i.e. cloudfender.com, datamolino.com).

Based on Matej’s prior business development experience from Silicon Valley (expansion of Slovak startups nicereply.com and qualityunit.com to US) he’s working hands on with the current portfolio companies on their go-to-market strategies, pitch decks and product strategies. Matej has also organized the first three Startup Weekends in Slovakia, won the national Startup Awards in 2011, co-founded Startup Camps (monthly meetups in 5 Slovak/Czech cities), hosted StartupSummit in Prague (250+ attendants from CEE) and has been active in evangelizing startups and entrepreneurship on Slovak universities and in media.

Besides that, he loves to travel and see the world, enjoy good food and whisky, spend time with his great family and meet new people with the wildest personal stories.
