Funeka Mhlongo
Teacher in Johannesburg, South Africa
I am a dedicated, motivated, and computer-literate Bachelor of Education graduate from the University of Johannesburg (2025), specialising in Geography for the FET phase, Natural Sciences, and Addressing Neurodevelopmental Learning Needs. I am passionate about education and committed to creating meaningful learning experiences that empower learners to think critically, engage actively, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Through my academic training and teaching practice, I have developed strong skills in curriculum delivery, lesson planning, assessment design, learner support, and classroom management. I am also experienced in implementing inclusive teaching strategies that accommodate diverse learning needs and promote equal participation for all learners. My training in neurodevelopmental learning support has strengthened my ability to identify barriers to learning and provide appropriate support to help every learner reach their potential.
I am confident in integrating technology into teaching and learning, using digital tools and interactive methods to enhance learner engagement, creativity, and collaboration in the classroom. I believe in creating a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and lifelong learning.
Beyond the classroom, I actively contribute to the holistic development of learners through participation in extramural activities, including athletics, block coding, and community engagement initiatives. I value teamwork, leadership, and mentorship, and I enjoy supporting learners in developing both academically and socially.
As an educator, I strive to be adaptable, reflective, and continuously improving, with a strong commitment to professional growth and making a positive impact in the education sector.
