FUNMI FALOBI

I am Funmi Falobi, a Development Journalist, Social Development Advocate, PR/Media consultant, and Media Trainer based in Lagos, Nigeria.

I hold both a Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with about 15 years media/newsroom experience, transcending being a reporter, correspondent and editor, with work experience as State House correspondent for Daily Independent newspapers and later as Editor, Foreign Desk of the paper.

I write and serve as Editor, Social Development news (SDN) @ www.sdnonline.net including being an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Yaba College of Technology, Lagos.

I am also Coordinator, Initiative for Social Impact and Sustainable Development (ISISD), an NGO that facilitates socio-economic and holistic development initiatives, using social advocacy skills and media communications tools to advance social change and the cause of girls/women and youths.

ISISD over the past few years have been involved in a number of strategic and collaborative partnership intervention aimed at advancing development initiatives for the betterment of the society through empowerment programmes especially for the benefit of girls/women, youths and people affected by poverty condition.

The organization is also involved in initiatives to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and social impact concerns cross-cutting capacity building and advancing the use of ICTs/digital skills, facilitation of economic empowerment/poverty reduction initiatives and engendering causes for improvements in health, education, environmental and other development concerns for the benefit of the society and humanity in general.

I am the National Publicity Secretary, UNILAG Alumni Association, Associate member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), member, African Council for Communication Education (ACCE), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) as well as serve as West Africa Ambassador for the World Day of the Boy Child,among other initiatives.

My activism include using the media to promote development agenda, through print, broadcast and online platforms, as well as through speaking engagements in training programs and conferences.
