Gurpreet Bedi
Student in Toronto
Hey, I’m Gurpreet and I’m a student at the University of Toronto. I am currently in the Master of Environmental Science program, specifically in the Biodiversity and Conservation stream. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph, with a major in Biology and a minor in History.
I enjoy travelling, being outdoors, and volunteering. My favourite areas of science include human physiology, environmental science and agriculture, but I also enjoy combining my passion for history with science. I especially like learning about archaeology, and evolution as there have been so many discoveries that have helped us better understand our past. I believe that the artifacts of the past and our current technology can help us map out the future.
I am inspired by the works of scientists who make science accessible to the general public such as Bill Nye (the science guy!). I appreciate Bill's ability to simplify complex topics, engage the audience and challenge misconceptions. I was lucky enough to see him perform live at the University of Guelph in 2020.
A fun fact about me is that I love to collect and send postcards to my family when I travel. I've sent postcards from Cambodia, Puerto Rico and a few other places in between. My goal is to travel to South America once the pandemic is over and visit Machu Picchu.
