George Washington

president in United States

Hello,

I am George Washington. I am both one of the Founding Fathers and the President of the United States. I was born on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Virginia. During the American Revolution, I was appointed the commander of the Continental Army in the year 1775. I held the American military together long enough to gain victory at Yorktown and secure independence for my new nation in 1781. After this, I had quite a few accomplishments. One of them being I nominated the first chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, John Jay. I also signed a bill establishing the first national bank, the Bank of the United States, and set up my own presidential cabinet. My close friends who were also famous are Tobias Lear, Revolutionary War General Nathaneal Greene, the physician James Craik, and Annis Boudinot Stockton. Although I have faced many challenges in my life, one of the most pressing occurred when I first took office in the United States. When I took office, the Federal Government was essentially bankrupt, and its bonds were nearly worthless. This made it very hard to run my new nation.

Why am I special you may ask?

Well, I not only was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, but I also commanded the continental army during the American Revolution.
