Hi, I’m Gabby Kitchen. All of my life I have been in the water. The lake, pool, ocean, river, I did not care, I just wanted to be there because that was where I was always the happiest. I started taking swim lessons when I was around 5 years old and I vividly remember being thrown into the pool by my parents. Was I a fan of it? Absolutely not, I cried at every lesson and always threw the biggest fit which my parents still make fun of me for to this day. Eventually, it started to grow on me and I joined multiple competitive club teams throughout the years. With those teams, I trained around 6 days a week but also met some of my best friends. I went on to join my high school varsity team and swam in some of the biggest meets all 4 years. Swim has made me who I am today because of the countless lessons it has taught me and the friendships I have formed because of it. About 13 years later, at the age of 18, I am leaving the sport that I love behind me even though I can’t imagine my life without it.
