A couple years ago, I was still at the contemplating stage of picking a college that was right for me. All I knew was that I needed to get out of New York. Yeah New York is beautiful and can offer a lot of opportunities and not to mention quite a bit cheaper than out of state, but I just wanted to experience something different. My curiosity for the south took over me so I began to look at big colleges down there. Being a football fanatic, I looked at Texas A&M, University of Texas at Austin, Clemson, University of South Carolina, and most importantly THE University of Georgia. Each unique in their own way but when I visited UGA, I fell in love. I fell in love with the tradition, the buildings, the sports, the area of Athens, and the people. Going to college 16 hours away was very daunting, but I really wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and meet different types of people. I was super excited to see the various cultures and people that UGA brought. I didn't know what my future would hold in Athens, but I sure was going to find out. Fast forward to a year later, I'm madly in love with UGA more than I ever thought possible. It instantly feels like home for me which is the best feeling as my family is not around. I also was able to find my best friends and sisters in Delta Gamma. My experience at UGA has taught me a lot about myself for instance I can actually be out going and it feels so natural to be. It's also taught me how to effectively use my time and not lose myself in my school work or in my sorority. I thank UGA for showing me the best side of myself.
