Reflection on StrengthsQuest; Harmony:

I chose to reflect on harmony because it was my number one strength that I demonstrated. To me, harmony means "keeping the peace." Working with others to avoid and overcome conflict is one of things that I strive to accomplish, so it was suiting that it was my number one strength. Being an elementary school teacher takes a lot of harmony, so it is good that I identify with it. Whether it's solving conflict between students, working with parents to help their child succeed or discussing new strategies with other teachers, harmony comes into play in executing plans. Finally, harmony has also already played a role in my life. Between friends, I'm known as the one who "solves the problems." I have taken on that role as a compliment and enjoy working with others to overcome troubles.

First Year Success Series:

This semester, we were asked to go to meetings with other first year students on a variety of themes. They included academics, wellness, The Buckeye Book Community and others. I enjoyed a discussion with Will Allen, the author of the book The Good Food Revolution. He talked about his book and how it not only helped him find his true passion in life, but gave the students tips on how to find their passions in life. This discussion was during the first few weeks of school, when things can be overwhelming. I thought that it was so great to hear about passion and motivation from such an early starting point when we are determining how our passions will drive our futures here at Ohio State.
