Gabriel Cruz

Writer in Los Angeles, California

Gabriel Cruz was born in a small town in Brazil, where he grew up surrounded by a rich, yet veiled history: runaway-slave communities, workers that preserve centuries-old shipbuilding techniques, and clues to a heroic past hidden in his late grandmother’s work. He is a founding partner of the writing company Maquinário Narrativo, where offbeat details about people and places guide his writing in a wide range of projects.

Among his credits, Gabriel wrote one of the latest episodes of the non-scripted show O Infiltrado, nominated for a 2014 International Emmy Award, and worked as story editor in the feature/pilot episode of Rio Heat, a Brazilian-Canadian show currently in production.

His feature script, The White Lobster, received the Jack Nicholson Scholarship for excellence in Writing.

His drama pilot, The Gallows, was a 2015 Final Draft Big Break semifinalist.
