Gabe Diamond

Athens, Georgia

My name is Gabe Diamond, and I am not the man that many perceive me to be. Those who know me on a superficial level assume I am nothing more than a typical “frat-guy” who loves to party first and work second. They perceive my extreme confidence and lack of care for discerning opinions to be reticent or arrogant. While I understand this point of view, it could not be farther from the truth. Those who know me on a deeper and more personal level, know that I am a hard-working, confident, well-spoken and politically stubborn young man. I take being “politically correct” very serious. That is not to say that I play it safe and never push boundaries. However, I believe an uninformed opinion can make even the most respected man come across as ignorant. I refuse to ever knowingly put myself in a position due to ignorance. Ignorance can be found all over the world in every facet in life. It is one of the great downfalls of our society. As a political science major, I have learned that everything you say or do has either repercussion, or reward. How I dress, write, speak and behave is always a reflection on me, and I will always put my best foot forward and represent myself in the best light possible. I know this may not seem so interesting, but I challenge you to ask yourself, how many times have you argued against someone with no basis for that argument? If you have, you know that you come away feeling foolish. If you and I are anything alike, you hate that feeling. Some people take this way of thinking negatively and accuse me of being a know-it-all, but I wish people truly understood the reasons behind my way of thought. I may not agree with everyone all the time, but I respect a differing opinion, as long as that opinion is a researched, fact-based, well-informed opinion. To those who see me as the loud, boisterous, self-righteous, party-animal, I encourage you to leave that opinion behind and come find out who I really am. I have flaws, lots of them, but I love who I am and I will never apologize for that.
