Hello, I’m Gabisile.
I’m a writer living in Gauteng, South Africa, with over 10 years of experience in the media industry.
I’m a fan of writing, education, and reading. I’m also interested in politics and causes.
I obtained a Journalism Degree from the University of Johannesburg in 2010, majoring in Communications and Politics. I have subsequently gone on to acquire extensive experience in various newsrooms across the country.
Currently, I am a Senior Reporter at a government news agency, a position I have held since April 2020.
International Relations and Cooperation, Health and Science and Technology are among the departments I cover and report developments on. This includes rewriting press releases into news reports, covering press briefings and writing feature articles for SAnews.gov.za (government news agency).
Before the agency, I was a Senior Journalist at YOU and Huisgenoot, the biggest and leading magazines in South Africa.
Here, I was mainly tasked with sourcing and interviewing the country’s most influential political decision-makers. Among the politicians that I have interviewed are Deputy President David Mabuza and a range of Ministers. They are Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan; Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma; former Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene and former Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi.
I also have experience in online journalism and curating content for publication.
Writing is my strongest forte and I have excellent verbal, written communication and social media skills. I also have impeccable research skills and can package and present comprehensive articles.
