Talking and practicing my communication skills, not only through verbal communication, but also through body-language was something that I always did. Growing up in the city of St. Louis, MO. I have effectively learned to do both, verbal and nonverbal; while experiencing different dialects in the African American community. Although I mostly love public speaking, my lovefor communication motivated me to be an English major at Spelman College. Communication and teaching intertwine in my life, as I always try to practice what I preach, and attending Spelman College, I have channelled my passion for communication into a career of teaching African American Literature. The African American community is diverse through its dialects, and I enjoy the southern twangs, or the aggressive northern languages of the black community.African American culture has progressed and grown overtime in life and through literature. To analyze the context of race in reality and relate it to literature, is really amazing. So, after college I wish to go onto grad school, earning my master's in Education and African American Studies. After that, I hope I am blessed with opportunities to be a professor of African American Literature and a public speaker advocating race equality.
