Gabriela Alvares

My name is Gabriela Álvares and I am a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in public relations at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. I will be graduating in August 2022. I attended an international school as a part of an International Baccalaureate program. This included three college-accredited courses and was academically rigorous. Admissions office: In addition to being a full-time student throughout my bachelor’s program, I worked in the Quinnipiac Admissions Office as a tour guide for prospective students and their families. I helped to provide them with the resources they needed to make an informed decision on whether Quinnipiac was the right university for them while promoting the university’s goal of attracting more students through professional standards of communication.

In the future, I hope to work with universities, focusing on internal public relations, culture, diversity and inclusion, and services for students with disabilities. I would prefer to do this in a medium-sized city where I can engage with my community in meaningful ways. Outside of work and school, I prioritize my family above all else. I am a third-culture student. I was born in South Africa and have lived in Tanzania and Portugal, and now the United States. Having the opportunity to live and grow up in another country has opened my eyes to new cultures and places around the world.
