Gabriela Fretes Torruella

innovation, research, and EdTech in San Francisco

Hello! Thanks for stopping by my page.

🔎 What I do
I teach online in university programs in the fields of education, psychology, and educational technology. My teaching focuses on the application of technology in psychology and education, as well as research methodologies.

I hold a PhD in Educational Technology, with an interdisciplinary focus on how environmental conditions in classrooms influence students’ emotions and academic performance. I also explore the potential of smart learning environments and the development of teachers’ digital competencies. I continue to grow as a researcher in these and related areas.

🎓 My journey
My academic background is rooted in psychology and psychopedagogy, with a specialization in educational innovation and ICT. Over the years, I’ve moved from hands-on work in educational settings—such as special education schools and juvenile centers—to more advisory and training roles, supporting educators in adopting active learning models and digital teaching practices, especially in the post-pandemic context.

Recently, I led the coordination of teacher development, supporting faculty in enhancing their educational practices.

🌱 Beyond work
I’m a poet at heart and a vegan for the animals. I’m also fascinated by personality theories. Living in different countries has deepened my appreciation for cultural diversity and enriched both my personal and professional life with new languages, customs, and flavors.
