Gabriela Fretes Torruella

innovation, research, and EdTech in San Francisco

I am a university lecturer and researcher working across education, psychology, and educational technology. I currently teach research methods, quantitative data analysis, and the application of technology in psychology and education.

I hold a PhD in Educational Technology. My research approaches Smart Classrooms as a multidimensional framework integrating environmental, technological, and educational factors. My work has examined classroom environmental conditions, students’ emotions and learning, and teachers’ digital competence.

My academic background includes degrees in Psychology and Psychopedagogy and a research-oriented master’s in Education and ICT. I began my career working directly in special education and juvenile services. I later moved into educational consultancy, instructional design, and university teaching. In Chile, I worked in educational innovation at the University of Chile and coordinated faculty development at Universidad del Desarrollo.

I have lived and studied in Catalonia, Spain, and moreover in Panama, Chile, and now in the United States. Outside work, I write poetry, explore theories of personality, and live vegan for ethical reasons.
