Gabriela Villegas

At Gabriela Villegas’ high school, every senior must complete over 120 hours of a project of their choosing that helps them gain knowledge behind a topic of their interest. For her project, Gabriela has chosen to research and write articles concerning news events in Latin America. Specific topics that she plans on covering involve immigration, economic issues, the welfare of workers, and the welfare of women.

Behind the name: “Justo Juez”: Justo Juez is a character of Salvadoran folklore. As a Salvadoran herself, Gabriela felt that the name of her news blog should reflect this part of her cultural identity as a Latina. The “Justo Juez” was chosen specifically because it is her favorite folklore and is lesser known than others like “La Siguanaba” and “El Cipitio.”
