Gabriele Paoli
Gabriele Paoli was born 1980 in a small village near Pisa, Italy.Gabriele is half Italian, half French yet with a sparkling English flair.He is got interested in theatre from a very early age. At age of nine, he got involved in PontederaTeatro and the Workcenter of the wonderful Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards. Being greatly inspired by theatre, Gabriele followed his passion and went on to direct several productions throughout Italy.In 2000 Gabriele left his home to study Directing at University of Bologna that therefore lead him to continue his studies at the prestigious Cinecittà Studios in Rome.In 2001 he received internship as the set PA in Minority Report with Steven Spielberg (Washington DC). He later went on to work at a successful Italian TV talent show Amici di Maria de Filippi (CANALE 5- Mediaset), and in 2006 he started his career as a music video director which lead him to win an award at the Videoclip Phone Festival, held by Warner Music Italy.In 2006 he was involved in the BBC/HBO Rome II TV series shot in Cinecittà Studios as set PA.He has shot videos and commercials for several famous singers, bands and well-known fashion brands thus interacting with many celebrities who were the main focus.As of 2008 his music videos air frequently on MTV Italy and across the main TV channels.In 2009 to 2011, Paoli was asked to teach the Music Video Director class at Cinecittà Studios Academy, Rome which he was honored to do so.Paoli was also able to mark during the shots from Rome and Milan flash mobs, produced by Eagle Pictures, for the release of the movie Step Up 3D.In 2010 he directed Coincidenze (Coincidences) based on the famous novel by Stefano Benni in collaboration with an Italian publisher Feltrinelli.Paoli’s unique surreal and romantic style of his films has gained audience recognition. The most notable of which was when Paoli won at the Venice Film Festival Awards in both 2006 and 2010. Additionally, Paoli has been recognised for his contribution to the Music Videos which he won in 2008 and 2010 at the Cinecittà Studios Music Videos Awards.In 2014 he directed brand new play Weight off my Shoulders at the Redgrave Theatre in Bristol produced by the Italian Cultural Centre.In early 2015 he was selected to direct the world premiere play The Mountain Bluebird at The Courtyard Theatre in London, written by Jamie Eastlake and produced by Taking the Mick Company.Paoli is currently in post-production of his first feature film It’s all about
