Gabriella Silva
Amherst, Massachusetts, United States
Hello everyone,
I have a whole page to write about myself and I have no idea where to even begin!
Well, my name is Gabriella Silva. I am a 20-year-old junior at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, working towards earning a degree in Sport Management. My family is my EVERYTHING. My younger brother, Kaleb, is my best friend in the whole world, and I am completely in love with my dog. Oh, and I am the #1 Celtic and Patriots fan ever!
Growing up, working towards a successful future was always a passion I had. My parents always pushed me to work extremely hard in order to have a successful future, the future I always dreamed of having. Unfortunately, my parents were not as lucky as me and my brother was growing up. As Brazilian immigrant who came to America when they were entering their 20's, my parents never got the opportunity to study in an institution of higher education (my father didn’t even make it past the 8th grade, shhhhhh!). And even when they were still in Brazil, they could never focus completely on their education because financial situations were never stable for them. They put education to the side in order to help support their families in order to survive! Anyways, for that reason, they came to the United States in order to be able to work hard, help their families back in their native countries, and work towards being able to give their future family (Kaleb and I) and future they were never able to have.
As you could probably conclude from above, I am Brazilian. The Brazilian culture is probably one of my biggest passions, and one that I hold the closest to my heart. I am completely in love with everything about Brazil. I’ve been going to Brazil since I was very young, and my parent also did an amazing job in continuing the Brazilian culture and traditions when raising my brother and me. I speak, read and write Portuguese fluently and I love to go to Brazil every chance I get. One thing I definitely plan on doing is keeping the Brazilian culture alive when I build my own family and have my own kids. Being Brazilian, I am I huge soccer fan, which leads into my other passion: Sports.
I am an avid sports fan (fanatic actually!). We have also followed sports in my family! Since I can remember I have been absolutely obsessed with the Boston Celtics (I mean, I am from Boston). I have followed them and rooted for them since forever! My brother is also a football player and has been
