Gabrielle Moriello
My name is Gabrielle Moriello and currently I am a Junior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I am pursuing a dual degree in Sports Management and Hospitality and Tourism Management. My entire life I have been surrounded by sport. Being the youngest of four athletic older siblings, watching them play was a majority of my childhood. As I got older and participated in sport myself, I didn’t want to let that part of me go and deiced the best-fit career path for myself was in sports.
As a Freshman, I attend Johnson and Wales University. Here I declared Sports Entertainment and Event Management as my degree. This was my first introduction to the hospitality world. I was intrigued with Hospitality especial the event side. It was something that came natural to me and I was passionate about them. I have had some event planning experience in high school but never saw it as a career path. However that has changed.
When I transferred to UMass Amherst Sophomore year, I decided that I wanted to keep with both sports and events. With a dual major I am able pursue two degrees that I find both very interesting and that I have a strong passion for. I feel that having both degrees allows me to see aspects in all categories with a very open mind and a different view than most people.
My dream in life would be to run a sports stadium. Here I would use the knowledge that I have gained from both degrees to produce a great outcome. Having the views from both sides of the market, sports and hospitality, I would be able to make decisions and generate ideas that someone with just one view might not consider.
Majoring in both Sports Management and Hospitality and Tourism Management has been the best decision I have ever made. They allow me to explore different sides of the business world and follow my dreams.
