Gaby Esteves

Gabriela Esteves was born on September 5th, 1988 in Valencia, the industrial capital of Carabobo state, in Venezuela. She emigrated to the United States when she was young, and since then has lived in Texas, Florida, and Georgia. Gaby recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Savannah College of Art & Design as their 2010 Salutatorian, and is now studying, living, and working in Sunrise, Florida.

From a very young age, Gaby has shown tremendous passion and dedication to her field and has fueled her love of the arts through heavy involvement with art programs in her communities. While pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting, with a minor in Museum Studies, Gaby was involved in a number of extracurricular efforts that established her as one of the top student leaders at SCAD. She administered the SCAD Student Ambassadors, which allowed her to establish arts-related community outreach efforts, and stayed involved in the arts by taking on internships with both local artists as well as major museums.

Gaby uses her paintbrush the way most of us use words, to convey messages and stir audiences. Her work ranges from the figurative to the vividly abstract, and stands as a reflection of her explorations of humanity. Gaby’s interest in the dialogue between art and mankind has inspired her to broaden her education upon her graduation from SCAD. Subsequent to imminent studies in the fields of anthropology, arts administration, art history, and chemistry, Gaby aims to enroll in a graduate program to receive her M.F.A. in Art Conservation. Gaby also recognizes the contemporary need for art education and advocacy among our younger generations and strives to be involved in keeping art alive. Thus, her long term goals include establishing herself as a working art conservator, maintaining a foot in her studio art, and working with a community arts and education organization.
