Geronimo Aguilar

Geronimo Aguilar visualized himself as a pastor looking to make a difference in people's lives. He didn't expect becoming the pastor of one of the fastest growing churches in the U.S. Nevertheless, he welcomes his role as the Richmond Outreach Center's (ROC) most esteemed minister. He sees his current role as yet another opportunity to effectively help those in need. True to form, he's done just that on countless occasions.

Known to many as "Pastor G," he remains committed to spreading the gospel. He uses his life experiences to relate with those he ministers to. Along with his wife Samantha, he passionately works to transform lives through outreach.

Aguilar's Beginnings

Life offers a number of interesting twist and turns. Pastor G's life had its fair share of twists and turns going up. Nevertheless, he saw these trials and tribulations as God's way of shaping him. These difficulties shaped him into the person he is today. As a result, he empathizes and relates to those he ministers to.

In 1999, he decided to embark upon a journey from California to reach those in need. Along with 19 other pastors, he set about providing community outreach to inner-city communities. This nationwide journey would eventually land him in Richmond, Virginia. He initially entered a partnership with the local church, providing ministry for Richmond's poorest members. However, the ministry suffered its fair share of setbacks.

Building the ROC

Despite these setbacks, Pastor G did not allow them to burden his heart and spirit. Instead, he developed a permanent urban ministry in the form of the Richmond Outreach Center. The ROC was founded in 2001 to serve the neediest of the city's residents. However, God had much bigger plans in store for this budding organization.

The ROC didn't intend to become a large church. Instead, the original purpose was to provide a network of other churches, organizations and individuals. The organization quickly grew out of its role as an engine for urban community outreach. Starting in 2003, the ROC began conducting services on a weekly basis. Since then, the church has grown in both size and influence.

The Richmond Outreach Center ministers to over 11,000 people each week. In addition to church services, it remains committed to providing urban outreach initiatives. Geronimo Aguilar's work continues to touch the lives and hearts of many.
