Gail Jenkinson

Bristol, United Kingdom

I'm based in the UK and am lucky that my work frequently takes me around the globe. For documentaries and natural history productions I've worked in remote deserts and mountainous regions where conditions have been challenging : Nile. The Ultimate River. Terra Mater / Among the Apes. Dragonfly. Entertainment and science based programming has also taken me to capital cities to film fast paced sequences : Enginnering the Impossible. Atlantic.

I'm often hired as camera operator : NHK Great Natures/ Sky Vision -Jesus Rise to Power, but consider myself to be a multi-skilled team member and can operate the MoVi stabilisation system, octocoptor, cranes, jibs and timelapse riggs. I'm very much a team player and enjoy hands on roles. As HSE, part 4 underwater qualified crew I have been working on natural history, presenter lead sequences and dramas. BBC's Merlin / Ron Howards Heart of the Sea for Warner Brothers / Adrift- 47 days with Sharks for Discovery Shark Week.

From a background in photography I went on to learn about filming techniques on drama productions 10 years ago and continue to work across them today as a focus puller : Da Vinci's Demons, MoVi 1st AC / Sherlock III, high speed 1st AC. I find drama to be a highly valuable discipline as it's enabled me to work with some of the industry's most talented individuals.

I have most recently been chosen as part of BAFTA crew 2014, one of two hundred of the most promising below the line talented crew.

I had the pleasure or working with Gail during an intensive week of filming a new pilot in Ashbourne, England, in Feb 2014. Gail was a critical element of the MoVI team, a bespoke piece of camera equipment that requires specific skills to operate.

The hours were long, the filming arduous, and the weather conditions inclement. Gail operated at the top of her game for the entire duration combining her professional talents as a camera operator and director of photography, with a resolute sense of humour that made being in her company a delight.

I would highly recommend Gail (without hesitation) to any production company that was searching for either high end camera operators or a deputy director of photography.
