Gail Henning

My name is Gail, I live in Pretoria having spent the last 5 years in Durban which I absolutely loved, I have fur-kids, I work too hard and I run very slowly. I also love cake.

This is my second online module, I was initially unsure of the 1st module, but knew that I was passionate about education and basically lived online - so what could go wrong? In the end, I was pleasantly surprised, I have loved every brief, the team is amazing, the support is unimaginable. I am very excited for the next leg of this learning journey.

Education is my second career, I initially trained and worked as an interior designer, later realising that this life was not meant for me I started lecturing part-time at a private tertiary design institution. I have since completed a PGCE (senior and FET) and PGDE (tertiary) through UNISA and started a masters degree there two years ago, having had my fill of (in my own personal opinion) a lack of support and interaction I enrolled here. I am amazed and blown away by the interaction and support which I have received.

I have been in the world of design education for the last 11 years and have been fortunate enough to experience many portfolios from management to lecturing to content development, I thrive on challenges and have recently accepted the position of distance manager. My goal is to turn our (truly) distance department around by taking it online and offering further professional learning programs.

This programme is a godsend and I look forward to learning from and with all of you.
