Gail Kincaid

Gail Kincaid is remembered as an influential artist, teacher, and activist, and a beloved mother, sister, and friend. She was an interesting, intriguing, audacious, and amazing woman.

Gail's collage art is a hallmark of her unique style. The well-known see, hear, speak no evil meme echoed in her work and her life. Left, is a definitive piece in her Barbie collage collection.

Gail was born to Charles Forest Kincaid and Ardis Pearl Kincaid in St. Louis, Missouri on March 29th, 1944. She has two sisters and two brothers who survive her: Joyce Ann Dorenkamp, and Charlene Meives, David Kincaid and Daryl Land.

She married Stephen Hollis Swink in 1964, and gave birth to Leila Abigail Swink Kincaid Hayes on February 22nd, 1968.

She studied theater and drama at Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana. She made Bloomington her home for most of her adult life. She traveled to and lived in San Francisco, Oakland, and Marin County, California. She moved back to St. Louis to care for her dying parents and returned to Bloomingto where she retired from Montesorri school. She worked as a costume designer and teacher for most of her life.
