Hello fellow ENGL 1102 students. I am happy to be here. This is the first class I have taken in an entire year now. I had a bit of a crisis in confidence after my sophomore year, and decided that I needed to step away from the academic world for a while. I didn’t know exactly how long it would take when I told my parents I was going to take time off of school, or what exactly I was going to do, just that it was going to be some time and something else. After a year of reflection and self betterment, I decided to give school another chance. In the past year, I worked in a warehouse, a local pool, and a few restaurants, all in my home town of Savannah, Georgia. Getting the opportunity to meet, work with, and serve a wide variety of people was something I felt like I should do before I went through the motions and got a degree in something that wouldn't satisfy me. One thing I did know throughout this time at home is that one way or another I wanted to come back to Athens. Now one year and one changed major later, I did just that. I still have a long way to go through UGA, but this school and town is a home for me and I'm excited to now pursue an undergraduate degree in advertising.
