I want to teach you about what I do with basic garage door repair, if you have been considering a DIY project then check this out.

Garage door repairs can be a very frustrating and costly process, that's why many men have started doing their own repairs more and more which can result in the job being completed not only much cheaper but also quicker as you wont need to schedule an appointment to have professionals come over to do the job for you. Most repair jobs can very easily be done by someone with no experience simply by following a few simple online guides and ordering the right parts. If you're having any issue with your garage or just wanting to do some routine maintenance then I suggest checking out a few of the guides at Garage Door Repair Center.

Torsion Spring Replacement

One very popular diy project is to replace any worn or broken torsion springs. These are the springs that sit on the bar right above your garage door when it's closed. They are wound up very tightly which is what allows it to cancel out much of the weight of the door and lets it lift and lower very easily either by hand or by the opener which simply uses a small engine and a chain. If you are considering doing any maintenance on the torsion springs you want to be very careful as previously mentioned, they are wound up very tight and could be dangerous if not handled correctly and carefully. When you purchase new torsion springs they will come with 2 bars, these bars are made to fit in to slots on each side of the spring, that way once the screws are undone at the ends of the torsion springs, they wont be able to unwind as you are holding the bar. This will allow you to slowly unwind the spring, alternating the bars by putting them in the top socket hole and lowering it down revealing the next hole. If you decide to try torsion spring replacement on your own I highly suggest reading a few guides so you can be certain of what exactly you are doing and can be safe from unwanted injury. Torsion spring replacement is one of the longer garage door repair diy projects as it can take 30 to 45 minutes to complete. There is a guide at garage door repair center for torsion spring replacement that can be helpful.
