Life holds many challenges, but presents just as many opportunities for appreciation of beauty, to find fulfillment in meeting our responsibilities to provide for and prepare the future inheritors of earth and to assimilate the deep fulfillment that can be enjoyed and appreciated in almost every circumstance and experience.

Each and every oment holds an experience to be cherished. Some activities and circumstances, in fact, offer amazing richness of experience, positive afirmation of the wonders of living, of life and of renewal. Two such experiences full of joy and blessing that we enjoy are gardening and children (and grandchildren.)

One does not have to be an adherent to eastern traditions of spirituality to benefit from the calming quiet, fulfilling achievement and observable beauty of a living garden. There is so much one can receive in terms of benefits of the process of developing such a wonderous thing. Gardening, for those of us who enjoy it, can be a blessing and more than a mere hobby or pastime: Gardening can even be said to evoke echos of the pattern of life, its cycle of renewal.

Similarly beautiful and evocative of the circle of life and new biginnings are children -- particularly grandchildren. New life brings with it such promise and joy and the comfort of knowing that, in many ways, we will continue to live on here on earth through our good deeds and generations of our offspring. Future generations provide all of mankind, not just those in any particular nuclear family, with more chances to get more right. The future is bright and life is wonderful in large part due to our children and our children's children having the opportunities we never had and the chance to learn from our experiences in making better choices for themselves, for the planet and for successive future generations.
