Hello! My name is Garrett Swallow and I am a 22 year old college student attending Chapman University. I am studying English and have a minor in Education Studies. I hope after I graduate to teach English at a high school level. Aside from school I am originally from Seattle Washington and like most Washingtonians love to be outside (when it isn't raining). When it is raining I love to read, listen to music and watch movies.

While most of my time is spent being a student I do work as well. For the past year I have been working at a ticket brooking agency called The Ticket Group where I assist in the distribution of sports and event tickets. I have had numerous jobs in the food business since I was 15 years old and those jobs instilled a work ethic in myself that I am very proud of.

These jobs have been a great learning experience for me but my real passion lies in the education field. I aspire to be a transformational and inspiring teacher. I believe my role as an educator is to develop students who will be change agents in society as well as informed and critical members of the democratic process. Education is not the regurgitation of information handed out by myself but the process of becoming a critically thinking well informed person. I passionately believe that education is what helps to shape great thinkers, entrepreneurs and artists. As an educator is not my job to push young people in a certain direction but rather give them the tools they need to go whatever direction they find most compelling. Education changes the world by giving people the information and skills they need to make that change happen.
