Gary Hogg

Blyth, Northumberland

I was born in Benton, Newcastle upon Tyne but now live further up the Northumberland coast.

Jobs have included everything from bacon boning to exhaust fitting before I went back to college and studied Film and Television Production.

I've been creating funny stories and cartoons for many years. My Fairly Truthful Tales series of books and CDs are often featured on BBC Radio

No longer performing myself, (Except with a ceilidh band sometimes) I prefer writing material for celebrities including Johnny Handle, Bill Maynard and Bernard Wrigley to perform live and on radio.

My cartoons accompany my writing work and that of several other authors including poetry, children's, school books and my own range of greetings cards.

I also present a 'Geordie Hour' on Radio Tyneside - that's our local hospital radio here in Newcastle and Gateshead - but it's also available on 1575AM and online - so Geordies all over the world can listen. I play music and songs by local singers & bands, songs written by local people and anything that celebrates the North East. Old Geordie songs and humour and classic bands like The Animals and Lindisfarne feature regularly. So get in touch if you have any ideas for the programme.

Every Sunday at 5pm (sometimes the spot changes to allow for live coverage of the home games from St James Park - if they're on a Sunday! -so check the schedule)

The Geordie Hour goes out on several stations including Radio Northumberland, Radio South Tyneside, Northumberland Hospital Radio and Radio Rake Lane.
