RIGHT NOW: I'm a director and the Editor-in-Chief of webzine www.witchdoctor.co.nz, New Zealand's only entertainment site for grownups, with intelligent and insightful writing about gadgetry, music, hi-fi, film and television, food and drink and life and the universe.

I can also be seen lurking in a miscellany of publications and contributing to NZ music history site, AudioCulture. My two recent books are about the groups Gentle Giant and Talk Talk.

BACK THEN: After graduating from journalism school, I worked as a sub-editor and music writer for Wellington's Evening Post, ran my own independent fortnightly arts and entertainment magazine, pumped out entertainment stories for TVNZ, and presided over NZ's most successful pop culture magazine, RTR Countdown, for six years; further journalism adventures ensued during my six-year stint at gadget magazine Tone. My back pages also include extensive freelance work for the NZ Listener, Sunday Star-Times, and many other publications. In addition, I've ghost-written and edited several books and penned a book-length critical analysis of progressive rock group Gentle Giant, hosted my own radio show on 95bFM, and featured on TV One's Breakfast as 'Gaz the gadget guru'. Once upon a time, I also ran a music space-cum-venue, Beautiful Music.

I LOVE: Music, movies, gadgetry, intelligent media, delectable vegetarian morsels, animals (not for food), more, more, more...
