He has worked over the past twenty-five years as a pit trader and wholesale power marketer. Urged by leaders in Nebraska business and politics, he began developing wind energy projects in the mid-2000s.

Aksamit was raised near Alexandria, Nebraska, a fourth-generation Nebraskan whose ancestors who helped build the Saline Center, an historic community hall west of Wilber, Nebraska.
