Gary Bassett

I’m Gary Bassett, a Dallas-based finance and technology entrepreneur with more than 45 years of experience across investment banking, community banking, enterprise software, and asset management.

I began my career in investment banking at J.P. Morgan before becoming involved in community banking in Texas. In 1985, I founded Microbank Software Inc., where I served as CEO and Chairman as we built enterprise software for the banking and construction sectors. The company was later acquired by Citicorp.

I subsequently returned to investment banking as a Managing Director at Bank of America. After leaving corporate finance, I spent several years traveling internationally and pursuing my interests in education, philanthropy, and community development.

In 2012, I founded HP Capital Partners in Dallas, where I currently serve as Founder, Chairman, and Managing Partner.

Outside of business, I remain interested in travel, education, philanthropy, and the different ways people build organizations and communities around the world. I’m a graduate of Southern Methodist University and the SMU Cox School of Business, and Dallas has remained an important part of both my professional and personal life.
