My name is Gary Bower, and I am a Story Dad. By that I mean that I read to my kids. I read chapters most nights, and little snippets most mornings. Since my parents used to read to me, I guess I figured that's what parents are supposed to do.

It's pretty cool being a story dad. It gives me one-on-one time with my kids every day. They enjoy the attention, and it gives me an easy way to put good things in their heads and hearts.

I've been reading to my 12 kids for 33 years. That's a lot of stories, and looking back, I don't regret one minute of that time spent. The payback has been remarkable.

If you have kids, I highly recommend making it a goal to be a Story Dad or a Story Mom. It's one of the best investments you'll ever make.
