Quiet on the set! Speed! Stand by! We're going up in three... two... one... Action!
The cameras roll, and the audience waits anxiously. Actors movearound and recite their lines. After fifteen seconds, the audience errupts in laughter. The actors are energized and blaze through the first scene. The director does a retake for safety. In the front row, the writer sits with the script in his hand, sweating profusely. This is his show--after years of pitching, writing, and rewriting, his dream is finally becoming a reality. Several hours pass. The audience is tired, but they leave the sound stage chuckling and commenting that they would watch this show.
In a few years, I hope to be in this position. Creating, writing, and producing my own sitcom is my life's ambition; I love comedy because I believe it's possible to find the humor in almost every situation. Performing in front of a live audience every week is thrilling because the audience provides the bulk of the energy actors thrive on.
I believe in my vision, and I'm already hard at work to make it happen.
