A research artist may be a suitable title for me, since my artwork tends to unite the sciences with the visual arts. I am chasing ideas–observed in life, in hopes of discovering something new. Like a scientist, except my interest is specifically visual. I am looking for new perspectives in objects and everyday situations. Some are serious ideas that I think no one has explored. While others are designed to be playful. In my studio I go where-ever the idea takes me, working with a variety of materials I follow the path that best suits the idea. Some have become museum installations, gallery displays and outdoor public works and others are experiments in a researchers laboratory waiting to get out.
