Gary Goga

After graduating with an English degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Gary Goga embarked on a career in both teaching and coaching basketball. Since 2002 Goga has taught English at Steel Valley High School, while also serving as head coach of the boy's varsity basketball team at Peters Township High School.

Gary Goga excelled as a four-year member of the men's basketball team while attending Pitt-Bradford and cites his experience playing for Head Coach Andy Moore as influential in developing his own decision to become a coach. Aside from basketball, Goga was also active in many other extracurricular activities throughout college. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Epsilon fraternity, played intramural sports, and participated in the alumni phonathon every year. Since graduating in 1999, Goga still returns to his alma mater each summer to assist Coach Moore with his yearly basketball camp.

As a high school English teacher, Goga has taught a range of students of various backgrounds and socioeconomic situations. He currently teaches general and academic English to seniors and oversees the Graduation Project for more than 100 of the school's students. Goga has also helped several of his students find job-shadowing opportunities with local businesses.

Outside of teaching and coaching, Gary Goga is an avid watcher of both college and professional basketball games and is a particular fan of baseball, basketball, and football teams from his native Pittsburgh.
