A cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Gary Liquori attended Western New England University School of Law, graduating in 1982. After being admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, he began a private practice in Springfield and later in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Gary Liquori continues to serve clients in the West Springfield area as a lawyer with Powers & Liquori, focusing on a range of civil matters. An important aspect of his practice was that fifty percent of his work was insurance defense work giving him a unique way of looking at cases from both sides.

Over the years, Mr. Liquori has won several notable verdicts for his clients, including the first case he tried in district court. In this case, the client was injured after slipping on ice that had accumulated outside of the Shelburne Falls Post Office. Though the U.S. Attorney’s office argued that the ice was a natural accumulation related to a nearby body of water, the magistrate sided with Mr. Liquori’s client and awarded $125,000 in damages.

A second notable judgement involved a land development case between a developer and the City of Westfield, Massachusetts. After a trial judge sided with the city in a zoning dispute, Mr. Liquori represented the developer in an appeals court. As part of the case, he presented evidence from the developer’s engineering team which pointed out that the developer’s plans met zoning requirements. Ultimately, the appeals court reversed the trial judge’s decision and found for the plaintiff.
